Born in Manchuria 1945. At 9 months old, lost father who were Japanese government staff, in the middle of crisis after the World War II . Survived in Manchuria until 3 years old by mother’s love. Returned to Japan, not being able to talk nor walk under acute malnutrition condition. Raised by loving mother learning self-esteem early on. Started to learn making money while attending school and decided not to advance to high school. Girlfriends went on strike not to advance to high school unless I go to high school which forced me to advance to a technical high school to prepare to work in factory.
Inspired by a very first American movie I ever saw, The Five Pennies, started to have dream to go to America. Learned English by listening lessons by radio and excelled ability to speak English beyond that of high school teacher, which led to introduction to an American mother who gave American name, “ Mark” to me.
Learned from American mother, when you attain honor student status in American high school with excellency in scholarship, leadership, and citizenship, you will be eligible to receive scholarship from university. Wrote a letter to American high school to promote understanding between Japan and America, out of five letters, Bedford High School acknowledged my objectives. Worked one year day and night to make money to travel to America and landed America in 1964. With honor student status received at Bedford High School, became the first recipient of Purdue University International Scholarship.
Being one and only Japanese undergraduate student demonstrating leadership, received counselor’s position over seeing 50 freshmen at residence hall, receiving full status of university staff .
After graduation worked at American corporations , both in American and Japan. Experienced lights and darkness of presidency of Japanese operation. In the year of 2000, Became independent consultant and coach.
Have two loving daughters with three grandchildren both in America and Japan.
With guidance from above, met the best and loving destiny in the airplane destined to Hawaii from Tokyo, that led tobe living in Hawaii. Passionate with vocation of life coach and writing, creating the world with IKIGAI.
